Wilmington

Stars flickered in the midnight sky

Your face lit by the iridescent moonlight
Your eyes sparkled
Your lips spoke words against the sea breeze
Your chiseled jaw and high cheeks gleamed
Your skin was cold, but the warmth of you heart was what I longed for.

I knew in that moment that, that was all I would ever do with you.
I would long for your heart,
Admire what I couldn’t call mine.

Do you look at me like I look at you?
Do you see my dimensions or do you see desperation?
